In Pakistan, thousands of families are trapped in bonded labor at brick kilns. These families are among the poorest of the poor. Because of hunger, sickness, or a small emergency, they borrow tiny amounts of money from the brick kiln owner — sometimes as little as. But the high interest and unfair deductions mean they can never repay it.
Entire families, including little children, are then forced to work from dawn to dusk, shaping and carrying bricks under the burning sun. Even if they work for decades, the “debt” never ends. When the parents die, the debt is passed on to their children. This is how slavery continues generation after generation.
Families live in small mud huts provided by the kiln owner, without clean water, electricity, or proper sanitation.
Children often do not go to school because they must help make bricks to increase the daily count.
Women and girls are especially vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, and forced labor.
Families eat very little, often only bread and tea, because they are paid so little for their labor.
One father told us with tears:
“Every day I wake up knowing I cannot give my children freedom. My hands are chained by this debt. I want them to have a future, but here we are treated less than human.”
Jesus came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18). As followers of Christ, we are called to break chains of injustice. Setting a family free from slavery is not only a physical rescue — it is a spiritual act of hope, dignity, and love.
When a family is freed:
Debt is paid: The brickyard owner is given the agreed amount, and the family is released.
Freedom is restored: They are no longer forced to work as slaves.
New beginnings: Families are relocated to a safe place, provided with basic needs, and children are enrolled in school.
Faith is strengthened: They experience firsthand that God hears their cries and sends help through His people.
We have seen freed families testify with joy:
A little boy who once carried bricks now carries schoolbooks.
A mother who once feared abuse now runs her own small sewing business.
A father who once lived without hope now leads his family in prayer and thanksgiving.
Freedom gives them dignity. It breaks the curse of generational slavery. It restores their humanity and allows them to live as children of God, not slaves of men.
The cost to free a family varies depending on the debt but often ranges from $500 to $1,500 USD. Your support will:
Pay off the family’s debt
Relocate them to safety
Provide food, clothing, and shelter as they rebuild
Enroll children in school
Help the family setup small business work and start a new life

Widow Kausar's Family
Their debt started at only 10,000 PKR (about $35). But after 15 years of slavery, they still could not repay it. Their children never saw a school, only mud and bricks.
Through Christ Mission, their debt was paid, and they were relocated. Today, their children are in school, and Widow Kausar has a sewing business.
